Ecce Homo

Spain, end of 16th Century

Oil and tempera painting on larch wood, of Spanish origin, and attributed to the circle of Roland de Mois, depicting Christ as Ecce Homo.
The work bears an extreme resemblance to a similar Ecce Homo conserved in the Basilica del Pilar in Zaragoza and attributed to Roland de Mois.
The latter, in fact, moved from the Flemish lands to work at the Spanish court, employed by Martín de Gurrea y Aragón, duke of Villahermosa.
