Saint John the Baptist

 

Large pear wood sculpture depicting Saint John the Baptist.

Work from Northern Italy and datable between the end of the 15th century and the beginning of the 16th century.

Expertise by Professor Alessandro Delpriori who attributes it to the workshop of Giovan Angelo Del Maino, a sculptor active in Pavia between 1496 and 1536.

The sculpture belongs to the large cycle of works on religious themes executed by the artist's workshop, born from Giacomo del Maino, who was called “Master of Woodworking”, and whose son and his workshop had nothing to envy.

The expertise is supported by very rich bibliographic sources that we will be glad to provide upon request.

Madonna with Child

 

Terracotta bas-relief depicting the Madonna and Child, surrounded on the sides by two cherubs.

Tuscan sculpture dated to the end of the 15th century.

Work accompanied by expertise by Professor Alessandro Delpriori, with attribution to the workshop of Antonio Rossellino ( Settignano , 1427 – Florence , 1479 ).

Thermoluminescence analysis performed by TTA Institute - Turin Thermoluminescence Analysis.

Comparable with a similar marble specimen preserved in the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg.

Sculpted Sphinx

 

Large sphinx carved in basalt rock
Venetian origin, work dating back to the 16th century.

The Nativity

 

Bas-relief in poplar wood depicting the Nativity.
In fact, we find depicted the Virgin, Saint Joseph and Baby Jesus.
Work dating back to the 16th century and of German origin (Cologne)

Crucified Christ

 

Large crucifix in carved larch wood, characterised by some traces of polychromy.
Coming from Northern Italy.
Datable between the end of the 14th and the beginning of the 15th century
Dimensions: 67 x 50 cm
